Every story we create begins with sketches, scraps, and second guesses. This is where they land—fragments of the world behind the book, from rough drafts to hidden jokes to side stories we still love, much like the unique pieces found in our poetry books and the captivating illustration art that brings them to life. Pull up a seat and peek beneath the lid. Some things don’t get polished. They get preserved, like a cherished Cup and Poem.
This is where the rough edges live.
Line drafts, lost pages, character sketches, alternate endings—everything that didn’t fit neatly inside the cup and poem.
🕊️ pigeon once wondered:
“What if stories grow roots before they grow wings?”
🪶 Pretty Bird chirped back:
“Then I guess the nest is the first draft of our illustration art in poetry books…”
It all started with a poem and a pen.
Jim wrote the words. I drew the pictures.
Somehow, they fit—like a cup and a poem.
Our work is playful, a little poetic, and full of feeling.
Together, we imagined a coffee table book that could
make you laugh, think, and maybe tear up a little too.
This is where art meets story.
Where a doodle becomes a bird,
a scribble becomes a world,
and a poem finds its wings.
🪶 From the Nest
“A line is never just a line.
It might be a wing.
Or a wish.”
